NASA spacecraft (Phoenix) successfully lands near Mars pole

In 2006 I posted Fly Your Name To MARS! Including in 2007 I posted about Messages From Earth. All those Topics are related to the robotic spacecraft Phoenix. and just Yesterday the Phoenix has landed down safely on the surface of Mars at 23:38 UTC (16:38 PDT), In north Pole.

This interesting video below shows the takeoff moment till the final moment of the Phoenix.. Enjoy :)

Congratulations to All who joined this great project. Your Name Which is stored on the mini DVD has Landed on Mars Yesterday :) .

Send Your Name into Space with the Kepler Mission

    Keplerlogoban

Send Your Name Into Space! With the Kepler Mission.

"Kepler is NASA's first mission capable of detecting Earth-size and smaller planets in the habitable zone of solar-like stars. The spacecraft is planned to be launched from Kennedy Space Center in February 2009. The spacecraft will be launched into orbit around the Sun, not the Earth, with an orbital period of 372 days. The spacecraft will slowly drift away from the Earth, such that in about 25 years it will be half an Earth orbit away, 300 million kilometers distant from the Earth, passing behind the Sun as viewed from Earth."

"When you submit your name, you may also chose to provide a message of 500 words or less of why you think the mission is important. A copy of the DVD with all of the names and messages will be given to the Smithsonian Institution’s National Air and Space Museum." >>> Click here to find more & Submit your Name :)

So Hurry Up the deadline date is November 1, 2008. I have already participated :) and here's my Certificate

In my answer to the question; Why you think the Kepler mission is important? I wrote as following:

In simple words I will say that one of the greatest milestones in Astronomy is to search for life beyond our Solar System, And to do that. First we need to find other planets possible earth size, and Kepler is NASA's first mission capable of detecting Earth-size and smaller planets in the habitable zone of solar-like stars.

And achieving it, is one of our astronomy dream milestones..... So Send Your Name!

This project is an activity in association with the International Year of Astronomy 2009.

    WorldWide Telescope software

    Microsoft WorldWide Telescope LogoS

Congratulations to everyone who is interested in Astronomy software's . The world leader in software's; Microsoft, Introduces the new WorldWide Telescope astronomy software.

Above is the screen shot of this software. It looks amazing and brilliant. I cannot say its cons now, because its still in beta. The good thing I've noticed is that you can download or create your own guided towers with sound. Brilliant. Also you can connect your own robotic telescope and control it using by using this software. But first you need to download your telescope's driver which is found in ASCOM.

I don't really know if this software will hit Macs. But looks Microsoft are currently working on windows version only. For more info click here.

If ya need more detailed review please visit Stuart's Astro blog.

Don't forget to download your own software and test it for yourself :)

"The LRO's objectives are to find safe landing sites, locate potential resources, characterize the radiation environment, and demonstrate new technology."

So Send Your Name To The Moon NOW, Before the deadline 27th June, 2008 of name submissions.

I've already submitted mine :)  and here is the Certificate of Participation!
